Paper registers replaced by a single tool in every volunteer's pocket.

Baltistan Medical Trust's volunteers were tracking blood coupons and donor details on paper registers and scattered spreadsheets. When an emergency call came in, finding an eligible donor of the right blood group meant flipping through pages — and donation history was fragmented across whoever happened to keep the record.

For an organization whose entire mission is getting blood to patients fast, the paperwork was the bottleneck. Records got lost, donors were double-called before they were eligible again, and no one had a single accurate picture of the donor base.

We designed for the field, not the office. Volunteers work at blood camps under tents, on whatever phone they own, often on patchy mountain networks — so the app had to be simple enough to use one-handed in a crowd and resilient enough to keep working when the signal drops.

We mapped the paper workflow first — how coupons were issued, how donors were recorded, who kept which register — and digitized the workflow rather than imposing a new one. Adoption was the real risk, and the way to win it was to make the app feel like the register, minus the flipping.

A mobile app built specifically for how BMT volunteers actually work in the field. Volunteers issue and track blood coupons from their phones, search the donor database by blood group and location, and see each donor's complete donation history before making a call — so no donor is asked to give before they're eligible.

Every donation is recorded once, at the moment it happens, and becomes part of a permanent history. The paper registers are gone; the data survives volunteer turnover, and the whole donor base is searchable in seconds during an emergency.

The app works alongside the trust's website — the site recruits donors and volunteers, the app is where the day-to-day management happens.
